Practical information

Dates and class schedules
Classes at the international summer school at GOBELINS will be held from Friday July 2nd through Wednesday July 16th 2010 from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M (certain classes or activities may begin earlier and finish later, notably the optional workshop to be held from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M.)
In order for participants to enjoy their own personal cultural discovery of Paris, with its many museums, exhibitions, art galleries, libraries, cinemas and historic quarters, no activities will be organized for the participants at the weekend. Wednesday July 14th is a national holiday in France and the school will be closed.
Housing will cover the period from Thursday July 1st (evening) through Sunday July 18th (morning). A welcome dinner will be offered on Thursday July 1st.
International students and professionals
International students and professionals from outside the European Union countries should obtain information in their own country as soon as possible about visa requirements and deadlines necessary for studying in France during the two week summer school session at GOBELINS.
To help these participants in this procedure, GOBELINS can issue a formal document of either admissibility after our evaluation of the application, or admission following confirmation and full payment of fees.
Accomodations and meals
During the week of summer school classes (but not the weekend or July 14th), lunch will be taken at GOBELINS. While these lunches are included in the participation fees, breakfast and dinners, as well as lunch at the weekend or on July 14th, are not. However, a welcome dinner will be offered on Thursday July 1st.
Accommodations will be at the site of the Cité Internationale Universitaire of Paris in individual rooms equipped with private bathroom. A student restaurant serves meals morning, noon and evening. Cooking facilities are available in each building. In addition to an equipped computer room, this residence hall also provides an Internet connection in the rooms as well as WIFI in the public areas of the main building where the restaurant is located.
Local transportation
The international summer school is held on the premises of GOBELINS, l'école de l'image located at 73 Boulevard Saint-Marcel in the 13th district of Paris, near the Metro station "Les Gobelins" (line N°7 ). Travel time between the Cité Universitaire de Paris residence hall and the school is approximately 30 minutes.
Each participant for the complete package will receive upon arrival Thursday July 1st a travel card for use on the metro and buses serving the Paris city center for the period of July 1st through July 18th (two tickets per day for the period from July 1st to July 4th, then weekly passes).
